1. These breathtaking landscapes and views are called the seven natural wonders of the world. Ready to learn why theyre special?

2. The northern lights are colorful lights that can be seen in the night sky near the North Pole. This natural wonder may look magical, but its caused by particles from the sun hitting Earths atmosphere.

3.  Its only fair that Mount Everest is considered a natural wonder. At 29,032 feet, its the highest peak on Earth!

4. Arizonas Grand Canyon is an enormous rocky groove thats about a mile deep. We think the rocks red colors are spectacular!

5. The Parícutin volcano in Mexico is one of the worlds newest natural wonders. The volcano started erupting in a flat field in 1943. When it finished in 1952, itd grown into a nearly 1,500-foot-high mountain.

6. Every minute, millions of gallons of water spill over Victoria Falls in Southern Africa. Mist sprays high into the sky. This natural wonders look and sound led local people to name it “The Smoke That Thunders.”

7. Youll have to travel to Australia to see the Great Barrier Reefs splendor. Its the worlds largest collection of coral reefs—underwater structures made of thousands of tiny animals.

8. Mountains, beaches, and rainforests can be found at the Rio de Janeiro harbor in Brazil. This natural wonders unique look was created by the ocean eating away at a rocky coastline over millions of years.
