Look how this gutsy girl uses our word of the issue, batter. It can mean

1) a baseball player who is trying to hit the ball

2) to hit or beat forcefully

3) a mixture of ingredients, like flour, eggs, and milk, that is cooked to make cake or pancakes.

2) I’d better hit a home run before rain starts to batter the field.

3) Then I can go home and bake the batter I made into a delicious cake.
