Writing Support from Storyworks

Your subscription to Storyworks comes with a variety of high impact tools designed to support writing instruction and help students build essential writing skills.

Types of Writing Support:

Writing Prompts

Storyworks education editors craft effective and engaging writing prompts for every article and story in the magazine. Each prompt comes with a step-by-step writing planner that guides students as they gather evidence, organize ideas, and complete responses. (These planners are included at the end of the skill sheets that help students practice an ELA skill highlighted in the article or story.)

Writing Contests

Many of our writing prompts are part of exciting writing contests that inspire students to strengthen their unique voice and motivate them to write for an audience. Writing rubrics and model winning entries support students as they write and revise their work.

Graphic Organizers and Guided Writing Practice

Every issue includes graphic organizers for summarizing articles and scaffolded activities for writing sentences, paragraphs, and essays.

Writing Support Page

Our Writing Support page is your go-to for printable and interactive tool kits that guide your students through writing informational essays, opinion essays, fiction stories, and more!

Grammar Collection

The Storyworks Grammar Collection offers bite-sized videos and fun activities that help students practice essential grammar skills. Each issue also includes a Grammar Scavenger Hunt, an interactive activity that clearly explains a grammar skill—such as capitalization, punctuation, and sentence structure—then prompts students to practice the skill in context, using stories they’ve just read.
